The Coalition is having a Fundraiser for the MUT trails. All proceeds from this event will be used by the Sam Houston Trails Coalition for working capital and out of pocket expenses on the MUT grants.

The Sam Houston Trails Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building and maintaining recreational trails in the Sam Houston National Forest. The Coalition has been awarded two Recreational Trail Grants totaling $1,000,000 that will be used for the rehabilitation of the Westside Multi-Use Trails (approximately 43 miles of trails).
The grants will be activated in the near future and we will get to work. But wait - there’s more to it!!
The Coalition funds the upfront costs for contractors, materials, professional services, etc. The Coalition THEN gets reimbursed from Texas Parks and Wildlife and that takes about 45-60 days. So, this requires working capital (upfront money). In short, the work is done, the reimbursement is submitted, the check is cut to the Coalition, and the process repeats. The capital will be used over and over until both grant obligations are fulfilled. So, the more funding we have for these expenses, the faster the work will go. Funds left in the “kitty” will be used for ongoing trail maintenance costs.
